Invasion - Colchester, Essex 20th April 2011
One of our friends and members, Simon Leonard, nearly died earlier
this year through a combination of respiratory related illnesses.
Simon's life was saved through the attentions of the Colchester
General Hospital Critical Care team and Leicester Hospital's ECMO
Machine.
There are only 9 of these machines in the UK and at a cost of
£40,000 each are not cheap. The calls on these machines are
greater than the supply and use of them is rationed. You can't put
a price on life.
Star
Warriors, The U.K. Ghostbusters and the
UK
Garrison of the 501st Legion are staging an event across the
whole of Colchester town centre in conjunction with many
independent retailers to raise funds for a new life saving ECMO
Machine at the Colchester Critical Care Unit on Saturday 20th
August 2011.
This event comprises many different events throughout the day with
the aim of raising much needed funds for medical equipment.

Slavitza Joven,
who played Gozer in Ghostbusters appeared at
Collectormania 16 in Milton Keynes this May. The U.K. Ghostbusters
had no choice but to turn up and "Aim For The Flat Top!" Loads of
photo's were taken and can be viewed here
in the Gallery. One awesome photo opportunity occurred
when we were getting ready to take some photo's by a set of lifts
and she just walked by. We had to grab her and the result is
above!
We are going to be taking part in the 2010
New Year's Day Parade in
London, proudly supporting The David Statton Sick Children's Fund
(Registered Charity number: 1042664)
We have a banner made up along with some ghostly props and we also
have the Ecto-1 replica in tow!
UPDATE:
We managed to raise a total £395 for The David Statton Sick
Children's Fund. Although not a huge amount, it will make a huge
difference. Pictures and video of the event can be found at the
gallery.
UKGB's at Coalhouse Fort

Movieum SFX Weekend - 12th July
2009
The UKGB's returned to the
Movieum of London on
Sunday 12th July 2009 to be part of the second day of the
Movieum's SFX
Weekend. There
were a number of famous TV and movie vehicles parked outside including
the DeLorean Time Machine from Back To The Future, Knight Rider's KITT,
The Blues Mobile, Herbie, the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard,
Starsky and Hutch's Gran Turino... and the Ghostbusters very own
Ecto-1! We also filmed the opening sequence to a short film which is
currently in post production. Watch this space for more news on that.
Enjoy the photo's!
Bustin' in London 20th June 2009
This June saw the much
anticipated release of Ghostbusters: The Video Game on Sony platforms and
the Blu-Ray release of
Ghostbusters.
To celebrate, members
of The U.K. Ghostbusters spent the day around the many sites of London for an "unofficial"
promotion and to entertain the
public! We started out at Buckingham Palace then moved on along
Westminster to the
Movieum of London
where we were treated to a guided tour. After spending some time there
we moved along to Downing Street and Trafalgar Square for some more
impromptu photo's. Photo's of the day can be found
HERE.
UKGB's A Big Hit At The London MCM
Expo 2009
Mark Lloyd, Martin Goose, James Mann, Ben
King, Andy Gray, Lawrence Juniper, Nick Ross
It was a great turn out at the
London
MCM Expo this year with a record amount of UKGB's in force! At one
point I counted 9 of us all together! It was an awesome day with LOADS
of photo's taken and even a couple of interviews! The only downer was
the lack of Ghostbusters: The Video Game. For photo's click
HERE.
UPDATE: Ben gives us the facts!
UKGB Gets Down with
Ray Parker Jr.
Our very own
Carl Hopcroft joined Ray
Parker Jr., and The Beatbox Choir in a publicity stunt for the
upcoming release of the reworked Ghostbusters theme with 118 118.
Apparently Ray is a really nice guy and was more than happy to chat
about all things GB. Go
here for more
photo's and see the ITN report below.
Well done Carl
for being the only one to make it!
